The Story—& Heart Behind Well-Rooted Motherhood
Published June 21, 2023 | Revision January 2025
To be honest, writing this post feels vulnerable. I debated sharing such a raw account because, in so many ways, I feel like a failure. I feel “behind” in life and often wrestle with my own insecurities. But today, I’m choosing to lean into honesty, to let go of perfection, and to share how Well-Rooted Motherhood came to be—a story of struggle, healing, and purpose.
A Journey Rooted in Wellness
Twenty years ago, my journey toward better health began. What started as a quest to ease migraines and manage anxiety turned into something far greater than I could have imagined. Through much trial and error, I learned how to listen to my body, shed physical and emotional weight, and reclaim my energy. These discoveries ignited a passion for wellness and eventually inspired me to combine my background in psychology with training as a Certified Holistic Health Coach. I was eager to help other women find balance and wholeness in their own lives.
But life had other plans
The Unexpected Detour
In 2015, as I launched my first wellness business, I discovered I was pregnant. The news felt like a whirlwind—I wasn’t ready. We had just moved across the country, and I had barely begun settling into this new chapter of life. A week later, morning sickness hit…and never left. It was relentless. Then came the news that we were expecting identical mono/mono twins—a rare and very high-risk pregnancy.
From bedrest to seven weeks of hospitalization and a five-week NICU stay, and, eventually, surgery for one of my boys after we finally came home, that season of life left me physically and emotionally drained. What I thought would be the joy of starting a family turned into a crash course in resilience and survival. The experience brought profound growth, but it also triggered waves of postpartum anxiety, depression, and a deep sense of inadequacy.

A raw and realistic story of what it was like to go through a high-risk pregnancy and the blessings that occurred along the way.
Finding My Way Back
Motherhood tested every part of me. It unraveled who I thought I was and forced me to rebuild. I realized that no coaching course or business plan could distract me from what I truly needed:
healing
Slowly, I returned to the practices that had brought me health years before—but this time with the flexibility and grace required in the chaotic days of motherhood.
This wasn’t just about physical healing. It was about learning to listen to my intuition, seeking therapy, and reconnecting with God’s (Divine) guidance for my life.
When God Plants a Dream
For years, I battled the belief that I had to choose between motherhood and pursuing my passion. I gave myself excuses: "It’s not the right time," "I’m not ready," "I need to have it all together first." But God had placed a calling in my heart that I couldn’t ignore. Slowly, I began to see that this mission wasn’t about being perfect. It was about being real, about showing up authentically to support other mothers who might feel just as overwhelmed as I did.
Well-Rooted Motherhood was born out of this clarity. It’s more than a blog or a brand—it’s a mission to empower mothers to reclaim their energy, nurture their homes, and live intentionally. It’s about creating a ripple effect of healing that begins with us as mothers and extends to our families and beyond.
A Mission Rooted in Purpose
At Well-Rooted Motherhood, I believe that when we, as mothers, prioritize our well-being—physically, emotionally, and spiritually—we create homes filled with calm, intentionality, and love. I’ve learned firsthand that our energy as mothers holds incredible power to influence our families. When we heal, set boundaries, and live in alignment with our values, we model a way of life that transforms not just our children but future generations.
This isn’t about perfection. It’s about trusting your intuition, embracing small steps toward holistic living, and leaning on God’s (I say God without religious affiliation; it is YOUR connection to something greater and Divine) strength when life feels overwhelming. It’s about rejecting the idea that motherhood requires us to sacrifice our entire sense of self or to “do it all” with a smile. Instead, it’s about cultivating rhythms and practices that work for your unique family and bring peace to your home.
Moving Forward Together
Today, I’m walking this journey alongside you. I’m still healing from burnout, navigating motherhood, and striving to find “balance”. There are days when I feel like I should have it all figured out—but the truth is, none of us ever do. And that’s okay.
What matters is showing up, doing the work, and leaning into grace. By sharing my story and resources, I hope to remind you that you’re not alone. Whether you’re here for practical tips, heartfelt encouragement, or simply to know someone else “gets it,” I’m honored to have you here.
